We are open 8.30 am - 5 pm daily a week and dog friendly.

The café and bakehouse have been running for over 70 years, serving generations of locals and holidaymakers coming to the lakes.

Bill and Sue took over ownership of the Bakehouse in January 2015 and since have shifted the business from a bakery to a pie shop, café and store, expanding the business to help support other local companies. Supporting other local businesses is very important to us, with our shop selling several Cumbrian-made condiments and drinks, the perfect gift for a loved one.

Our farm store provides fresh, local produce such as fruit, vegetables and milk so that we not only save you a trip to the shops, but we also help support local farmers.

Similarly, we serve freshly sliced, quality ham and beef for sandwiches, baguettes and general sale as well as a variety of local cheeses.

The Bakehouse is beautifully situated on the waterfront, overlooking Morecambe Bay, the Kent Estuary and the fells of Cumbria and South-Lakeland, the perfect destination for walkers, photographers and other naturalists. The location is perfect for grabbing a Cake, Breakfast Bun or Pie (with the works, of course!) and sitting on the pier to enjoy the spectacular views.

Our café serves hot and cold coffee using English Lakes coffee beans that you can purchase from the shop to use at home. If you have your little ones with you, we also sell a variety of cold drinks and blended milkshakes, ideal for hot summer walks along the promenade.

All pies, soups, cakes and cooked meats are prepared from scratch by Bill and our bakery team so customers can be assured of quality and consistent standards for our fresh and appetising food.

Favourite pies include Meat and Potato, Steak and Ale and Cheese, Leek and Onion but be quick because we sell out quickly so be sure to order ahead or get here early so you don't miss out.

We try to cater to all food preferences or allergens so we have a variety of Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten-Free options, simply ask our staff!

Even on a wet, drizzly day, there's no need to worry; we'll be there with hot food available to warm you up. We also serve made-to-order sandwiches and breakfast buns, perfect to help get your morning started.
